Buying a domain name (this will be the address of your web site) is really quite easy.

I have used Godaddy for years. I find it simple to use and less costly than other registrars.

I have a couple of sites which do quite well. One is www.thelittlefoxes.net and the other is www.dog-allergies.org. Now for the latter I could not get a .com extension so I had to settle for .org which is pretty good but not as good as a dot com name. Search Engines seem to rate these higher than dot net, dot org or any of the others out there.

To decide on what domain name to purchase should take some brainstorming. Decide what your web site is all about. If it's about pets then start writing down all the different names you can think of. Believe me you won't get www.pets.com. But you might get www.Mikes-pets.com. Now if you key in Mikes-pets.com you will find nothing as of today. Who knows, by tomorrow it might be gone. People are registering domain names by the thousands each and every day.

Go to Godaddy's web site and in the search box enter your desired domain name and Godaddy will tell you if it is available. Then proceed to checkout and with a credit card, check or paypal and you're all done.
