Creating the content for a web site is an art.
There are specific points you should keep in mind as you begin writing your first page so that Search Engine Optimization will be easier and you will engage your visitor and keep him on your site longer.
While you are creating a web site remember that each page should contain about 400 to 500 words of text.
Now if you look at this page you will see what I've done so far.
Created a heading with a <H1> tag
Created a sub heading with a <H2> tag
My first sentence is in bold
All of these items are crucial for Search Engine Optimization. You must have a Big heading called a H1 Tag, a second heading called a H2 tag and a sentence in bold. Now all of these items should contain your keyword. If they don't, re-write it so that they do.
Now write about 400 words, interesting words! Keep it simple and easy to understand. Write for a reader at the 7th grade level in the way you would naturally write. Don't try to write like somebody else. This is not a put down on anyone, this is what the search engines are looking for. There is no one as unique as you so just use your own words and write about what you know.
One other thing to keep in mind is that a surfer will glance at a page and you better have something that grabs his attention or your visitor will go away. In six seconds flat. That's the time it takes for a surfer to decide wether he will read the page or go back to the search results.
Keep everything important above the fold. Putting a great graphic into your page near the top is an attention getter.
Links are important too. He may browse the page and find bold text in a link that catches his attention. Bold colors help and underlined text tells the visitor that this is a link.
Now go write that copy and keep in mind the points I've mentioned on this page! :O)
